Standard shorter run...

Back to the old 3 km run round the neighbourhood today! Felt good, knocked about 30 seconds off my time and seem to be getting back to 10:2, another couple of runs should get me there and then we go for 10:1.

Signed up for Chicago today and am pondering another momentus decision. I may change my 10km running clinic starting May 25 for a 1/2 Marathon clinic staring June 1. I think I can get myself back to a sufficient level to start that training in five weeks if I am persistant. If I do this, I will probably also run the Toronto 1/2 Marathon which is exactly two weeks later. So, let me ponder and then let you know what I decide.

OK - so the song of the day was Toni Basil's Hey Micky!

Be Brave!

Sunday long(er) run!

Hi Gang,

Out for a jaunt today, an expansion of my route from yesterday. A bit overcast with flecks of rain coming down. Nice for running - had on my windbreaker and was probably a bit hot as a result.

Song of the day is If I had a Million Dollars by the Toronto band, The Barenaked Ladies. A band that was once banned from performances at City Hall because the mayor thought their name was sexist. The band is still around to this day - that mayor, long gone...

So, this week we move up to five runs a week with the intention of a 10% increase in over all distance per week from this point on.

Stay tuned!

Saturday morning run...

Dropped the WGG off at the Bookbindery this morning and then headed out for a 3 km run. It is hard for me to believe that this is the same body that was running 28 km runs over a year ago but even at this point in my recovery training, I am feeling improvements.

Well, let's see, running in this area of Toronto is just great. Lots of parks, nice streets and limited traffic at 9:00 AM on a Saturday morning.

Today's song of the day was Gloria by Van Morrison. Great!

Talk to you soon!

Test of new running blog

Welcome to the Paul Mackin consolodated running blog.

This is the replacement for the Prague & Reyjkavik blogs and will consolodate all of my running activities. I am now back from Nigeria for good and need to do a bunch of things to get my life back in order from a running/training/health point of view. It has been a hard year but I feel ready to tackle it.

So, first off, a tour. Above is the counter to the next event I am planning. I will be signing up for the Chicago 1/2 Marathon in the next couple of days and will be running it one day before my 51st birthday. To the right is my current weight and the "Song of the Run" along with a mechanism for tracking my weight which will be revised over the next few days (I am hoping for something graphical). Below this text area is the latest route I have run.

At this point the most I can manage is a run of about 3 km and that is a struggle, my weight is up approximately 7 kg from my weight when I completed Prague in 2009 and I am a good year older. Yuck! Time to take charge.

This site will have my routes, music, stories and of course goals and race reports. Welcome aboard - I am back!
