Sunday LSD

Hey everyone,

Completed my Long Slow Distance run of 5.85km this morning, again along the boardwalk. Had a problem with my GPS watch downloading so don't have a copy of the run to attach but it was great! Met a man with a snake on the beach and chatted with him a bit and picked my song of the day as Radio Ga Ga by Queen!

Next run Tuesday but have a second workout with my trainer, Michael, tomorrow.

Will update you all then.

Club Run at the Beaches Running Room!

Hi everyone,

It is Wednesday and so we, in the Beaches 10 km running clinic get together for a second time in the week to run. Today was 4.3 km and it was a bit difficult as the temperatures were in the 30s with a humidex above 35C. In other words it was bloody hot!

Still, managed to get through it with a better pace than yesterday and, I have to tell you, what a great place to run - the Beaches is the best. Running along a boardwalk with sailboats on the lake, nice attractive people, safe environment - a gentle breeze. Yeah, it is really nice!

So, met with a nice fellow this morning, Michael Fong, my new trainer. He is aware of my extended goal of running the Ottawa Marathon exactly 52 weeks from now! He is also aware of my weight loss goals, my spinal stentosis, my planters fasciatis, my asthma and all of my unsavoury habits. Heavy sigh... It sucks to be honest...

Anyway, we have our first session on Friday and I will report here on it after the event. Two times a week and four runs a week - I could say that I will rest on the seventh day but I carefully choose the company I keep. ;-)

Talk to you all again soon!

First class of the 2010 10 km Clinic!

Hi everyone

Started off with the clinic tonight and it seems that I still have a 5 km 10:1 run in my legs. It was a bit tough and I was getting tired at the end but I did get through it and in the top half of the group. Back held up and I felt pretty good at the end of the run.

The group itself seems very nice, fun and companionable. I chatted with a few folks but, frankly, my hearing disability makes conversation difficult without my hearing aids or lip reading. Still it was fun.

The song of the run was Honkytonk Blues but sung by Blues artist Taj Mahal. Wonderful!

Next run is tomorrow! Update you then!

Yet another Treadmill run

Up to 6 km today, it was fun except that there was a guy on the eliptical in the gym who wanted to watch a slasher/horror film and, while I didn't care as I was watching something from the History Channel on my iPhone, he had the volume so loud it was drowning out my headphones.

Oh well. We are good, clinic starts in a week and two days.

Home on Wednesday!

3.47 miles on the Treadmill tonight!

Hi guys,

Just a quick update. As you can see I have added additional countdowns for the two other runs I have scheduled and my clinic starts one week from Tuesday. Yah!

On the treadmill here at Anderson Thompson in Yellowknife this evening. The weather is looking great for the weekend so I may get out on the road for a couple of km sometime over the next couple of day.

Be Brave!

Treadmill running

Hi there

Since my last run posted in the Sault, I have been working out on the treadmill. Today completed a 5.5 km run here at my apartment in Yellowknife. No song of the day, instead listed to the Rachel Maddow show on my iPhone.

Clinic starts in now less that two weeks!

Training Run in Sault St. Marie

Hi there,

Drove up to Sault St. Marie this morning and went for a lovely run along the boardwalk to kick out the post drive kinks. 3.4 km under really ideal conditions!

Song of the Run - My woman from Tokyo by Deep Purple.

In the next week I will run here again in the Sault, in Edmonton, perhaps Lloydminster and lYellowknife.

Be Brave!
