Wound up August with Speed Drills!

Hey everyone

Wound up August with some fast paced Fartlek ("Speed Play" in Swedish) training. The trick here is to mix it up, go fast, really fast, run, walk but get an overall improvement in your pace as well as improve your bustable aerobic capability.

I normally run at a 6:30 - 6:45 pace but when peaking out in Fartlek I get down to about 4:00 min per km for 150 m or so and get my overall pace down to a 6:00 or 6:15. It is actually pretty tough but well worth it. Tonight our 1/2 Marathon Clinic ran two speed drills last night and will move to three and then four next week and the week after respectively. The group did very well.

So, time marches on, I now have less than 3 weeks until the Army 1/2 Marathon to support Canadian Troops and then a further 4 weeks until the LSB Cardiff and Scotiabank Toronto 1/2 Marathons. Still time for improvement but now the runs are in my legs, as they say - no matter what, I will likely be able to finish them both.

Song of the run was 250624 by Chicago
